"Tears streamed down her face as she muttered the words “I’m just so exhausted. I can’t do this anymore.” I sat there listening, trying to think of the words to encourage her, to tell her everything was going to be okay - but I sat in silence as my heart broke. Unlike this tired woman, I didn’t know what it was like to sleep outside every night, to wake up in the morning to find bug bites covering my body. I didn’t know what it was like to walk four miles into town on a hot, summer day because a Saturday afternoon trip to Five14’s Storehouse was my means to get by for the week. I didn’t know what it was like to cry tears of joy because someone had donated bottles of body spray and sticks of deodorant. Truthfully, I didn’t know what it was like to be in her shoes. But even as we sat there in two different life circumstances, I heard her heart’s cry, I saw her exhaustion and my heart broke with empathy for her.

With Rebecca in the room, we began to speak truths over her, over her value and over her current circumstances. That day, we not only were able to meet her material needs but were able to remind her that she is seen, valued, cared for and so loved... Being a part of Five14 Revolution, I have seen such a beautiful picture of the Lord’s love for his children. One that is persistent, loyal, unconditional and everlasting. And I too have been reminded of my identity as a daughter - that I am seen, chosen, sought after and pursued.

Just like every woman we serve, I’m the one the Lord left the ninety nine for. He cares for the one, He chases after the one, He stands for the one."
